Portrait Photography

Why not visit our studio to enjoy a professional portrait photography session? It is true that modern mobile phones have made it easier than ever for families to record every occasion, but a professional studio session allows us to capture a quality of image that simply cannot be replicated with a phone. A professional studio setup with proper lighting facilities enables us to control the lighting, to vary lighting effects and to deliver a selection of varied and striking portraits. My sessions are informal in style, and this hopefully enables customers to relax and enjoy the experience – a relaxed subject will usually result in a better and more natural set of photos.

As with my landscape work, my aim in portrait photography is to capture the essence and personality of the subject, and hopefully to achieve results that deliver the “wow factor”. More details about my portrait photography services are below.

Services Available and Current Pricing

Please note that studio bookings are limited to a maximum group size of six.

Full payment is required in advance for all bookings.

I regret that pets are not allowed in the studio, and I cannot offer studio-based pet photography sessions. However, I can provide an on-location pet photography service. Please contact me for details.

Standard 1 Hour Studio Session £75

A one-hour session is most appropriate for solo shoots, for couples, and for babies. Whilst larger groups are welcome to book a one-hour shoot, it is recommended that a longer session is booked - larger groups can require longer to achieve the same number of successful images.

Shortly after your studio session (normally less than a week, but perhaps slightly longer during extremely busy periods), you will receive a USB stick containing JPEG files of ALL images from the shoot. I will only delete obvious failures such as missing heads(!) or test shots taken during the shoot.

I will apply some limited post processing to those images that I consider to be the best from the session. The aim of this post processing is to deliver the best possible versions of the most successful images for you. It will not extend to the removal of blemishes or any other "touching up" of this nature, unless specifically requested by you.

If you would like to have more images processed in this way, I am able to do so, but this may attract an additional charge, depending on how many images you would like to have processed.

No prints are included as standard.

Please let me know whether you have any specific objectives or preferred looks you are hoping to achieve. Wherever possible, I will work to accommodate your wishes, although this may not always be possible.

Extended 2 Hour Studio Session £100

A two-hour session is recommended for groups of more than two people, although solos and pairs are of course welcome too.

Longer Sessions

Should you wish to book a session for longer than two hours, I am happy to accommodate – these will be subject to an additional charge of £25 for each additional hour.

Location Shoots

You may prefer to have your photos taken in a countryside or beach location, or maybe a favourite park. This will often achieve a more informal look to your photos. Perhaps you would prefer family shots taken at home in your garden? I am pleased to be able to offer a service for location shoots. The charges for these are the same as for studio sessions (i.e. £75 for one hour, £100 for two, and £25 for each additional hour) where the location is within 5 miles of Retford. For locations more than 5 miles from Retford, there will be an additional charge of £1 for each additional mile in order cover my travel expenses and time. Therefore, a location shoot 50 miles from Retford would attract an additional charge of £45.

If you would like to include your pet in a shoot, then you would need to book a location shoot, as the studio is not suitable for pets.

I reserve the right to reject a requested location if I consider it to be unsuitable or inappropriate.

In the event of unfavourable weather forecasts, a location shoot may need to be postponed (certainly, wet weather and cameras rarely mix well!), and rescheduled for the next mutually convenient date and time.

Prints

Although prints are not included in the price of a portrait package, I am happy to help out if you would like to have some printed. Prices obviously vary according to size and printing medium – please contact me for details.

Passport Photos

I regret that I do not offer a passport photo service. High street providers have facilities specifically designed to comply with government requirements.
